Explanation Writing T3W2

Why is there a need for a fire drill/safety?

Fire drills happen so that everyone knows what to do in a real fire. A fire drill shows the quickest, easiest and safest way to exit a building. Fire drills give an understanding of how things would be if there was a real fire. It is unexpected because you never know when an actual fire may happen.

Firstly, is the planning. In order to get out safely everyone must know which way to exit, which will only happen if they did some planning. The plan should indicate which way is the quickest and where the correct exit door is. If one does not have a plan or way of getting out when there’s a fire, a fire drill should help them to understand.

Secondly, it helps to check if the equipment for a fire is working perfectly. When there is a fire drill the alarms must work correctly so that everyone can be alerted straight away. Checking that the equipment all work would help to get you out of the building quickly and safely. If everything is working it does make a difference to the chance of surviving in a real fire.

Thirdly, is the safety. Fire drills are a special part to everyone's safety. When a fire drill goes on everyone should be able to evacuate the building safely without any harm. Also to avoid panic in case of a real fire. The safe place or assembly point is where everyone should go once they have evacuated the building, it is a place to check who is injured and who is still in the building. It is also a place away from the fire.

In conclusion fire drills are done to keep everyone intact when a real fire occurs. Fire can catch onto many things and make a huge forest of fire, which is why everyone should have fire drills. Planning a way to get out of a fire and checking that all the equipment is working could give you a longer time on earth.

Talofa Heather,

I can definitely say that your writing was 10 times better than me! I really enjoyed reading your story because it did give me some information on why we need fire drills. Was it hard for you to write this explanation?

Taloha ni Alicia,

Thanks for your wonderful feedback about my writing. I'm pleased to know that you learnt something from what I wrote. Also, no it wasn't hard for me to write this since I already researched about the topic and wrote down a few notes.
