Swimming sports
Today, Friday 24th of March the senior part of our school had finished up their swimming. Different ages and skills could be seen in the pool. I did not take part yet I did enjoy watching the kids swim.

Investigation into volleyball skills in Room 8
On a google spreadsheet I put in numbers to indicate the way I play volleyball. Using online tools that were given on the top right corner of the spreadsheet made it easy to create both a bar graph and pie chart. I also had to find the mean or average of the numbers our class put in. I found this task very easy as for it was just a few clicks of a button.

Get New Zealand Writing
For the past few days we have been getting a package ready for Grey Main School in Greymouth. They are from the South Island and we are still waiting for their package to arrive. We do hope that they enjoy reading our metaphor poems and other things that we provided for them. Our class is proud to be apart of the programme, "Get New Zealand Writing." We are one of the 3000 participating schools.

Divisibility Rules
When playing this maths game I really had fun. This game was about divisibility rules. At first I thought that would not understand yet I kept getting the correct answers without any help. My mind really was at work since the numbers used had 3 digits. I did not struggle with any of the questions that were given to me to solve.

Badminton
I’ve never had a passion for playing sports but when I play badminton it’s a whole different story. Kylie our badminton coach taught us a few skills about badminton. The skill that I like and use best is backhand grip. If I could play badminton again I definitely would.

Omaru Creek - Te Taiao o Tāmaki
Omaru Creek was in urgent need of help with sewage from local residents flowing in. The local residents were putting fat and rubbish down their drains which caused massive blockage. Both public and private pipes were affected.
Taking action the Maintenance Crew cleaned out the creek. Putting these things down drains is just unacceptable since they do not break up in water. While it’s in the pipes it forms large clumps which blocks the water from going through.
Such instances are called “dry weather” overflows. The name is because not much stormwater has went through the wastewater network.
Although it’s not the Maintenance Crew's responsibility to clean out private pipes they knew that in order for the creek to be clean it had to be done. They cleaned out all the rubbish that was in the creek such as rotting mattresses, drinking cans and kids toys. Afterwards they flushed the creek with fresh clean water and tested it for over five days.
This is the condition of the creek at this current time. We are hoping that once we are done with it, it will look more cleaner and in a much better condition. We at Glen Innes School have chosen a section of the creek closest to Apirana Avenue for our project. When visiting the creek we found a few things that very much weren’t where they belong such as an aerosol can, metal bucket, moss/algae, branches, overgrown weeds, metal pipe and a strip of cardboard.

This is a comic strip that I made about what I learnt this week. To create this I used storyboard that.

Pace, Acceleration and Consolidation
Image 1
The 3 keywords for this year given by our principal are PACE, ACCELERATION and CONSOLIDATION. For the first basic facts assessment I got 95% at stage 7 and in week 3 I got 100% at stage 7. I think this is acceleration because my result was higher than my previous one, also my pace was a bit faster. For the next basic facts I hope to get over 20% at stage 8. I will consolidate by revising the work that we done in school at home.

New Zealand pupils below average in maths
In my opinion I strongly believe that maths should be apart of the school curriculum because in life there WILL be a time when you will need to have some knowledge of maths skills. Also there are many jobs that require math skills. If you do not learn maths in school there is no way that you’d get a job as an accountant, cashier, etc. As a result even though I do not personally like maths I still think that it should be apart of our school curriculum.

Web: I can't imagine life without
Walt: Make a web with things we imagine life without.
I enjoyed doing this activity and found it fun. While I was doing this I had to really think and use my head. I would definitely like to do this again but about another topic. For example, "What I like..."
